10-Year-Old JACKIE EVANCHO Signs with Syco/Columbia Records
This is a big deal! Jackie Evancho didn't win "America's Got Talent", but I predicted at the time that she would be performing to huge audiences for many years to come. It goes without saying that a child who was so hugely popular and with so much talent simply had to be picked up by a record company. Well, that's already happened. She has a record deal with Syco/Columbia Records.

Jackie Evancho, child opera singer from 'America's Got Talent,' signs with Columbia
EW.com:
Jackie Evancho, the 10-year-old opera prodigy and runner-up from this season of America’s Got Talent, has signed with Syco/Columbia Records. It’s not too surprising that she’d sign with a label, given her viral popularity and obvious talent, and it’s even less surprising that she’d sign with Simon Cowell’s label, given her reality pedigree. Sometimes the world makes sense after all!
Evancho was a fan favorite on AGT, and week-to-week, the judges heaped more praise on her than any other contestant. It is a little creepy to hear what sounds like a fully matured operatic voice coming out of an adorable, tiny, blond child? It’s not…not creepy? But it’s also pretty stunning:

JACKIE EVANCHO Calls Herself A Classical Crossover Singer
Jackie Evancho is a child pridigy, plain and simple. Anyone with a voice like that at 10 years old is truly exceptional. She calls herself a classical crossover singer, rather than an opera singer and I suppose she's right, although most of what we heard on AGT was operatic. In any case she is really awesome and would have been my personal choice to win.

'America's Got Talent's' Jackie Evancho: 'I'm a classical crossover singer'
From Inside the Box - Zap2it:
Jackie Evancho is one of the four 'America's Got Talent' finalists on Season 5 of the talent competition show. She tells Zap2it about her experience on the show and how she discovered her extraordinary gift.
'The experience is really exciting,' says Jackie. 'Prince Poppycock is really funny ... but I guess my favorite [act] would have to be Fighting Gravity.'
Comparisons have been made between Evancho and famous soprano Sarah Brightman -- which is more on the nose than people realize because Jackie discovered her talent after seeing "Phantom of the Opera."
"We were watching 'Phantom of the Opera' ... and it was mesmerizing," Jackie says. "After that, I started singing the songs around the house and my mom thought that I was really good."
But don't call her strictly an opera singer -- she was quick to correct us.
"I like to sing other stuff too. I'm not an opera singer, I'm a classical crossover singer. I sound like I have an operatic voice, but it's also a nice pop-like voice," Jackie informs us.
We tried to find out what she's singing for her last performance, but she couldn't spill the beans.
"Well, that's confidential information," she giggles. "But I can tell you the song is really beautiful. It's very peaceful."
And when asked what her favorite place to sing would be, Jackie simply says, "My favorite place would have to be on the stage. Just any stage.

Michael Grimm and Jackie Evancho are Both Winners!
I'm afraid I tend to agree with the writer of the following article. Little Jackie Evancho was "perfection" and I too was totally astonished that the country had chosen otherwise. However, perhaps in a way it's appropriate that Michael gets his opportunity to live his dream. Jackie, on the other hand has many years in which she will be a star and make many millions of dollars in the process.

How Did Michael Grimm Beat Jackie Evancho on 'America's Got Talent'?
Speakeasy - WSJ:
Forgive Speakeasy if we’re dwelling on this too much, but how in the world did opera prodigy Jackie Evancho lose to singer Michael Grimm on “America’s Got Talent” last night?
The 10-year-old Evancho had been the favorite, and watching the video of her final performance–in which she totally delivered–it’s hard to see why she didn’t walk away with the top prize.
Considering her age, the spotlight, and the fact that she was the one to beat, her vocal control seems all the more remarkable. “I have never ever seen an act on this show or the British show or any of the other talent shows in the world that I’ve seen with more potential than Jackie Evancho,” said judge Piers Morgan of Evancho. “That was perfection.”

Jackie Evancho is RUNNER UP in America's Got Talent. Michael Grimm Won!
With all the pomp and ceremony of a Finals Result Show, the final four acts awaited their fate.
Last night following the finals performances America voted for their favorite contestant and the result was an upset for the bookmakers. Their odds had pointed to Jackie Evancho to win and Fighting Gravity to come in second.
It didn't work that way. Instead, when the voting results were announced tonight, Michael Grimm, the excellent guitar-playing singer won it all - the million dollars, the headline show in Las Vegas and headlining the cross-country tour. Jackie Evancho came in second, but in her case she was already a big winner.
That little girl is already a star in her own right and her future is literally unlimited.

Jackie Evancho, Michael Grimm, Prince Poppycock, and Fighting Gravity in the finals
Jackie Evancho and her dream live on as she was one of four chosen to make it to the Finals of America's Got Talent. Every time I hear her sing - or even hear her speak, she is so self-assured that I have to remind myself that she's not an adult, but only a little girl. A very awesomely talented one to be sure.

'America's Got Talent': Prince Poppycock, Jackie Evancho, Michael Grimm, and Fighting Gravity make it to the finals
EW.com: by Emily Exton
Congratulations, PopWatchers. After endless rounds of terrible auditions and prolonged canned moments of suspense courtesy of Nick Cannon, we have finally reached the finals of America’s Got Talent.
Last night America voted Prince Poppycock, Michael Grimm, Jackie Evancho, and Fighting Gravity into the finals, leaving Michael Grasso, Taylor Matthews, Jeremy Vanschoonhoven, Christina & Ali, Anna & Patryk, and Studio One Young Beast Society behind.
There was no judges’ choice this time, so the four advancing acts were clearly the most popular (and arguably the most deserving) acts of the entire competition. Although these performers have been miles ahead of some of the others this season (remember Jimmy Dinh and Mary Ellen?), we are still left with 3 vocalists and 1 dance group.
Will America ever be ready for something a little different? Or does true talent trump all, regardless of what you do? Will anyone be disappointed if a singer wins again?
Each act will perform one last time on Tuesday night, followed by the live two-hour results show on Wednesday, where the winner will receive the $1 million prize
.
Is this your dream Final 4? Who were you sad to see miss the cut?

Jackie Evancho Bio
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jacqueline Marie "Jackie" Evancho (born April 9, 2000) is a young soprano from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Evancho was born to Michael and Lisa Evancho and has an older brother, a younger brother, and a younger sister.[1] She started singing when she was seven years old, after watching the movie Phantom of the Opera. Her mother heard Evancho singing songs from the movie and allowed her to enter a local talent contest just for fun. She finished as the runner-up and was voted the audience favorite. Eventually she participated in other talent contests and started a YouTube channel.[2]
Evancho has performed onstage with producer David Foster[3], was an invited performer on the PBS Special "Celebrate America" with conductor/composer Tim Janis, sang the National Anthem at an event honoring aviation pioneer General Chuck Yeager[4], and has performed many times at the invitation of Pennsylvania Senator Jane Orie[5]. Jackie also performs at numerous events and charity functions in and around her hometown[6].
Jackie Evancho sings in the "classical crossover" style of singers such as Hayley Westenra and Sarah Brightman. She studies singing with a voice coach,[7] and also plays the violin and piano.[1]
On November 1, 2009, Evancho released her debut album called Prelude to a Dream.[8][9] The album features mainly covers of songs such as Martina McBride's Concrete Angel, Josh Groban's To Where You Are, and a cover of Amazing Grace among others. Several crossover selections appear on the album; "Con te Partiro" is not an operatic piece; "O Mio Babbino Caro" does appear in an opera: Puccini's "Gianni Schicchi" The version of Schubert's "Ave Maria" heard on the album is not the original song, which is set to a secular text in German. Instead, it's an arrangement of the Roman Catholic setting of the "Hail Mary" prayer in Latin.
On December 2, 2010, she is scheduled to sing at Carnegie Hall in New York City and will be the youngest female vocal soloist ever to have performed there.[10]
On August 10, 2010, on America's Got Talent[11], she performed O Mio Babbino Caro by Giacomo Puccini. The aria is also on her debut album. She received a standing ovation after her performance, and was awarded a trip to Universal Studios in Florida for receiving the most fan votes from the submissions to the show from YouTube

Jackie Evancho on 'America's Got Talent': 10-year-old singer stuns audience with booming voice
By Anthony Benigno Daily News Writer Wednesday, August 11th 2010, 9:57 AM
Jackie Evancho, 10, stole the show on 'America's Got Talent' Tuesday night with her rendition of Puccini's 'O Mio Babbino Caro.'
Young Jackie Evancho's performance on "America's Got Talent" Tuesday night brought down the house, reverberated through TV land and made her the most-searched person on Google early Wednesday morning.
With all the attention the budding performer has received in the past 24 hours, there's really only one question to ask: Who is Jackie Evancho?
The singer, 10, does not have the platinum pelt of Justin Bieber or the Mouse-House following of the Jonas Brothers, but thanks to her flooring performance on "America’s Got Talent," the Pittsburgh native is already being called the next Susan Boyle, according to USA Today.
Evancho's appearance on "Talent" was part of a viral-themed wrinkle for the competition show; all the performers who appeared Tuesday night submitted their auditions via YouTube. Judges Piers Morgan, Sharon Osbourne and Howie Mandel voted on 10 of the acts, and according to host Nick Cannon, Evancho was voted through as the 11th contestant by viewers at home.
Before Evancho took the stage, a taped intro clip ran down the finer points of the young girl's life at home. "I have two brothers and one sister, a big garden and we have ducks in it. It's so much fun!" beamed Evancho, who started singing after seeing "Phantom of the Opera." According to Babble.com, she has already released a self-produced album called "Prelude to a Dream."

Once in a while we come upon a child prodigy like this one and we're all amazed at what they can do. I remember as a child knowing a young boy with Downes Syndrome who was a natural exceptional pianist. Do you know anyone like this? Leave a comment
